Today is La Chandeleur here in France, a day which is traditionally celebrated by the eating of pancakes – yum!
There are many proverbs surrounding La Chandeleur and the end of winter, you can read all about these and Groundhog Day in an earlier blog I wrote here
So what are the 2015 predictions? Well at approximately 1.25pm French time Punxsutawney Phil popped his head out and apparently saw his shadow, thus predicting that winter would last for a further six weeks.
Given that we once again have snow on the ground on la Chandeleur I guess the furry little critter could well be right, and winter may indeed last for another 40 days here in France.
Keep the fires blazing and your seeds firmly in their packets!
A bientôt
