Window Bird Feeder – Petit Pod

A window bird feeder is the perfect way to observe garden birds close-up. Since installing our Petit Pod window bird feeder here at Le Jardin Perdu we’ve had the pleasure of watching Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Robins and Sparrows all feasting on its contents.

How to install your window bird feeder

The Petit Pod window bird feeder is made from clear perspex. It has two strong suction pads on the back that allows for secure fixing to a window. To install the feeder simply make sure the window is clean, moisten the suction pads and adhere them to the glass. After leaving the suction pads to dry you can then fill the feeder with your choice of bird food. Et voilà! Sit back and wait for the birds to arrive. It only took about a week for the birds to find our window feeder and it’s been a hive of activity ever since.

Cleaning your Petit Pod window bird feeder

To prevent the spread of diseases between birds it’s important to regularly clean and remove old food from any bird feeder. The joy of this bird feeder is that it’s super easy to clean. You don’t need to remove the whole feeder from the window as the body simply unhooks from the suction pads.

Are window bird feeders safe for birds?

This type of feeder actually reduces the chance of a bird striking your window. As a bird flies towards a window bird feeder it is slowing down ready to land, it can therefore see the window and will not collide into it.

We’re lucky to have our Petit Pod window bird feeder positioned in our office area so that we can watch the birds as we work. OK, I’ll be honest, we probably spend too much time watching the birds, but they provide endless entertainment and soon get used to you being there! A window feeder is also a great way for children to learn about garden birds and nature.
